BATTALION 4 RUNS WORK ON BLACK FRIDAY

Friday, November 23, 2012  Today around 12:18 crews from the 4th Battalion found work at 2809 Covent Garden Terrace. Crews arrived to find a working fire and the RID was dropped, no other info available.

BURTONSVILLE UNITS CATCH WORK IN PG COUNTY

Wednesday, November 21, 2012  At approximately 2300 hours on November 21st, Truck and Engine 715 were alerted to 518 Prince George St in Laurel (Co849s area) for the house fire. Initial units arrived on scene to find a 2 story single family home with fire showing from side "C" on both floors and through the roof. The crew from T715 arrived and went to work laddering the building, performing horizontal ventilation, and establishing a rapid intervention team before being assigned to cut 2 holes in the roof to assist with overhaul.

Saturday, November 17, 2012  Tonight at 1921 hours units from the 5th Battalion were dispatched to 19039 Cherry Bend Drive for a house fire. The rapid intervention dispatch was dropped shortly after (working fire). No other info at this time.

HOUSE FIRE IN THE 3RD BATTALION

Thursday, November 15, 2012  Today at 1259 units from the 3rd Battalion were dispatched to 12 Wonder View Court in 31's first due for a house fire. Shortly after dispatch the Rapid Intervention Dispatch was struck (Working Fire). No other info at this time.

APARTMENT FIRE IN BATTALION 3

Thursday, November 15, 2012  Tonight at 2345 units from the 3rd Battalion were alerted to an apartment fire at 18343 Lost Knife Circle in Station 8's first due. The Rapid Intervention Dispatch was hit shortly after dispatch (Working Fire). No other info at this time.

Sunday, November 11, 2012  This evening at 1012 units from the 5th Battalion were dispatched to 21170 Beallsville Rd for a house fire. First in units arrived to find a fully involved house fire.

Saturday, November 10, 2012  Today at 1609 units from the 4th Battalion were dispatched to the intersection of Bel Pre and Homecrest Roads for smoke from the apartment building. Units arrived to find a working fire in the garage at the end of the row. Engine 725 made a qucik hit holding the fire to the garage with no extension. Searches negative and fire held units wrapped up in about one hour.

BURTONSVILLE UNITS ARRIVE TO FIND FIRE SHOWING, MIDDLE OF THE ROW

Friday, November 9, 2012  This morning at 0923 Units from the First Battalion and PG were dispatched to 1750 Featherwood Street for a house fire. PE-715 (Capt Barber) arrived to find fire showing from the 1st floor of a 2 story middle of the row town home. PE-715’s crew lead off with a 200’ 1”3/4 line with Truck 715’s crew opening up. PE-724 (LT Furst) 2nd due backed up PE-715 and also gave the Charlie side report identifying boarded up windows on two floors. This bread and butter fire was held in check with minimal damage to exposures by aggressive engine and truck work of the First Battalion units.

MDTF-1 DEPLOYED TO NY AND NJ

Monday, November 5, 2012  For just about a week now members from the FEMA MDTF-1 team from Montgomery County Fire and Rescue have been deployed to the areas in New York and New Jersey that were affected by Hurricane Sandy.  They have been performing welfare checks and searches in some of the hardest hit areas by the hurricane.  Take a look at some photos of our team as they are deploying from Joint Base McGuire-Dix in Lakehurst, NJ to Staten Island, NY.

B-SHIFT WITH A KITCHEN FIRE IN THE FIRST

Sunday, November 4, 2012  The 1st Battalion is a great place to be a Fireman, with Firehouses very close to one another protecting the dense DC Metro area; all companies have to be “ready” to go!

 Today Engine 702 (Takoma Park) was slightly out of position for a first due house fire and Engine 716 (Silver Spring) ended up taking the 1st due responsibilities. Guess the rookie at 16 finally caught his first fire…….
