  1844- The wooden trussed single track Cumberland Valley Railroad bridge across the Susquehanna River west of Hargest (City) Island was destroyed in a long and spectacular fire. The fire was believed started from embers or hot coals dropped from a steam locomotive. Wednesday, November 23, 2011  They say Fireman are kids that never grew up and I agree with whoever coined that saying. Most kids and adults are excited for the holiday season to begin on Thanksgiving Eve. But I know those of us who truly love our jobs, volunteer or career and the excitement it brings go to bed with a smile and say "Tonight could be the Night". Friday, November 18, 2011  1998- 2140 hrs. 47 N. 14th St.   50' x 100' one story cinder block warehouse behind the old Capital Bedding building in the Allison Hill Industrial Park. Contents were old furniture and antiques. The fire was through the roof on arrival. NEW CUMBERLAND FEDERAL FIRE DEPARTMENT 69 HANDLES DOG RESCUE

Tuesday, November 8, 2011  About 2030 hours last night, a phone call was received at the station of York County 69 Fire Department for a report of a dog in a drainage pipe.  The owner stated they were walking their dog at approximately 1600 hours when it pulled the leash out of their hand to chase a groundhog.  The terrier pursued the groundhog into the drainage pipe off the installation by skating under a chainlink fence and entering the pipe.  After four hours of waiting for the dog to come back out of... Sunday, November 6, 2011  Crew's have been working a barn fire in East Hanover Township for a few days now. They are still trying to bring the 6,000 tons of smoldering hay under control. Due to the crisp morning air the smoke from this fire has been kept down low and covered the Metro Harrisburg area (East). Several 911 calls have been handled for "smoke in the area" this morning from this low lying haze. Pictures are from Colonial Park Station 33 looking toward Jonestown Road and Locus Lane.

COLONIAL PARK VOLUNTEER FIREMAN MAKES SEMI-PRO HOCKEY TEAM

Saturday, October 22, 2011  Firefighter Philip Crea of the Colonial Park Volunteer Fire Company continues his hockey career by signing his contract on Wednesday for the season with the Louisiana Icegators!!! The Icegators are part of the Southern Professional Hockey League and first caught action last night with a 6-5 Overtime victory against Fayetteville.

Good luck and kick some ass representing the volunteer firefighters of Central PA! 

 

 

 

PENN STATE LIFE LION CELEBRATES 25 YEARS

Saturday, October 22, 2011  For 25 years the Life Lion helicopter has been providing Central PA and surrounding region with advance trauma life support. In 1986 the Dauphin helicopter took its first flight based out of Hershey Medical Center. The Life Lion Program now operates three Dauphin helicopters out of Hershey as well as the Carlisle Airport. Each crew consist of a pilot, flight nurse, and flight paramedic which respond on an average of 1,200 flights annually.
